4. Objective

The course combines lectures with a bank case study that simulates the experience of working in a team to conduct a bank examination. Participants will work in teams to assess significant qualitative and quantitative factors and assign for each component of the CAMELS rating system.

5. Topics

  1. Discuss various bank examination techniques.
  2. Assess the financial condition of a bank by analyzing the financial ratios found in the Uniform Performance Report (UBPR).
  3. Utilize qualitative information gathered from a bank examination report to analyze a bank´s overall condition.
  4. Achieve a basic understanding of the interrelationship of a bank´s asset quality, liquidity, sensitivity, earning, capital, and management/risk management.
  5. Become familiar with various regulatory and financial topics, including the basic principles of internal controls and risk-focused supervisory strategies.

6. Minimum Qualification Requirements

  • The course is designed for bank supervisors with approximately 12 to 18 months of relevant experience, involved in financial institutions supervision, assessing risk management processes, conducting bank examinations, and performing off-site surveillance.
  • Intermediate level of English language.
  • The use of laptop is required for the course.

7. Language

The course is only in Spanish. No simultaneous interpretation will be available.
